Can anyone point me toward any websites where I can find good, comprehensive tips/guides on masks and layers in Photoshop 7?

I'll be into that too. I understand layers but masks are just bizzare in their explanation

Spend a few dollars and buy this book from Katrin Eismann, it is well spent money believe me!

not sure about what versions of PS or Elements, but //www.radiantvista.com has a series called 'The Photoshop Workbench'. Video tutorials where they correct / tweak images. They use layers often, so you could see how they do it. Really a great site, and I don't even use PS.

I bought a book Photoshop7 for Windows and MacIntosh. It is very in depth and you can get it at Barnes and Noble or Amazon. The authors are Elaine Weinmann and Peter Lourekas.
