Was my entry for "BROKEN" challenge. It did VERY BADLY

how would you edit it?
how can it be improved?
what do you dislike about it (besides the focus)?

and here is the orignal file (jpg compressed 75%) for your editing pleasure, please show me a better way!

THANKS mate

Thanks for the comment. You mentioned you were drawn to the stem. Hmm, that was actually my intention (it's Broken challenge) so I thought it should be that way, but I guess I blew it...somehow :(

The stem definitely fits the broken challenge. But the subject seems to be either the flowers, which dominate with color, or the bee, which stands out because it is so different from the rest of the image, not to mention the title. It's just that it's difficult to have so many focal points and still have a strong image.

edited to add:
I'll take a shot at an edit but I'm no master myself.

Tried a tighter crop to send the flowers partially out of the frame and create leading lines that point the viewer to the bee. (edit: and keep the stem in frame)

I'm not sure it's much better but it's a tough shot and I'm no photoshop expert.

Thanks, I see what you mean now.
Your crop is better as it leads the viewer towards the bee (which in a way, is the main subject)

Do you think a desat would work in this case?

I tried that first and it didn't work out that well on the reduced res orig. The orange had little tone and the bee already has so little color that it just melted away into the BG.

maybe i should have just ignore the "fat bee" altogether eh?
as in, dont state it in the subject?
