| Ritz Camera has the Nikon D50 w/ this lens for $599. I know that the 18-55mm kit lens isn't that great but I haven't heard anything about this lens. |

From what I know the 28-80 is a fairly cheap lens and you get what you pay for. With that said it is rated about mid range for photo quality.
You would be better off with the D70 kit lens, the Nikkor 18-70 as it is better made and produces higher quaility shots.

| I got the 28-80 in a kit with my F75. The only thing I like about this lens is the weight, it's super-light. Quality is what you expect from a lens with this price, not impressive, but not very bad either. The focus ring of this lens is a disaster, it's so small that I couldn't find it initially. And it's not very fast when zooming to 80mm. Occasionally I use it when I want to travel very light. |
