I want to make a flash intro for my new website. But I don't know which program I would need for this....
I tried using ProShow Gold, and I got exactly what I was looking for.... problem is, alot of people can't play it on their computer!!!
So, which one should I look into getting? |

You need Flash MX, but it has a steep learning curve.
A program like Swish may be better depending on what you want to do.
Can you describe the intro you want and also experience with software?

Flash standard edition should work fine.
Or you could use something like swish which is a bit more user friendly.
Or for the ultimate in easy (but not the most configurable - but CHEAP) you could use something like anim-fx |

Flash is awesome and has many different things that can be done. It might be a little tough at first but it does get easier and their are so many amazing things you can do with it. |

I've been trying the Swish Max demo that runs out today...Looks like I'll have to drop the 99 bucks, which is way better than giving Adobe 499.00 for Flash... |

Flash is the best option. It is a bit tricky to learn, Once you get an understanding about how the layers work and how to apply action to the layers it is pretty easy to work with. The lessons included with the program are very helpful. If you want to take it to the next level you can get Director as well, this allows you to work several flash files into one presentation. |

I've used Swish for several projects over the past few years - intros, product demos, banners. Works great & much lower learning curve than Flash. You can also find templates and stuff on their site. It exports SWF files (Flash) for embedding into web pages.
Good luck & have fun. |

I mainly just want to make a 1 minute flash presentation as an intro on the front of my website. That's it. I can learn software pretty fast, and what I don't know... my hubby usually does (he's an IT and Network Admin - so he is pretty good on the computer lol)
I downloaded Dreamweaver 8 trial... but that is more for the site itself... which is coming in handy! :) |

Simplest thing, download the trial of Flash, head over to flashkit.com and look through their movie (flash) files. They have a TON of them and are pretty well organized. They are free to use for the most part and will include the source file for you, or your hubby to edit.
If you're looking for a program to use more than just one time, Swich really is worth it if it's just for simple use. You can use it with Flash source files, I think.
There, my 2 cents
