If you open a new image in your editor, size the canvas the total size you want it. Then copy and paste your pics onto the new canvas and merge when placed where you want them. Now you have one image with three/four different shots in it. Apply your border, text or whatever and voila!

Ex.: You have three images that are all say 400 pixels wide x 600 pixels high. You want a white space around on all sides, room for text and border. New image size 1400 wide x 800 high. Open individual images, process how you want, copy whole image and paste into new one. Same with other two. Place on new canvas where you want and merge all. Now they are in place and you can add text/border as desired. It may help to turn on gridlines on the new image for alignment.
