Question on CD burning software. Instuctions for submitting to Alamy specify the following: "Please set the file system to ISO9660 before writing the CD or DVD (we can also accept UDF format for DVDs)."

I've checked my settings and I have 3 options for burning CD's: ISO + Joliet, ISO + Joliet + UDF, and ISO Level 2

Any suggestions on which setting to use? Thanks.

AFAIK ISO9660 is the norm, so if your burning software only say's ISO it's probably ISO9660.

Joliet is a 9660 format. It is just one that has been tweaked by MS. Dont worry it is the most common 9660 format out there and is fully 9660 compliant :)

no prob, Am glad knowing what 9660 is actually came in handy, Joliet is just an adjustment that allows for long file names. Used to work supporting cd rom/rw drives ahd to remember 9660 and red book stuff.

(I can't stand waiting!) ;0)

what format did you use though? if you put in drive and right click properties it should say
02/10/2006 02:10:44 PM · #13
It says file system CDFS

I tried looking through the program but could not find much about ISO9660 other than a definition of it! Odd

that should be 9660...only did you close the session or leave it open?
02/10/2006 03:18:50 PM · #15
closed it. do you think they just couldn't read it for some other reason? This one after I burned it I downloaded every image to my desktop to make sure it worked but didn't do that on the first.

Response back from Alamy on CD settings today said:

Hi Barry,

All the formats are ok and if you need a specific choice, you can use ISO + Joliet.

Kind Regards
