Sakar Components - AKA Digital Optics, Crystal Optics, etc ...

Think they're ok? I just got my first digital camera and it came in a set with some digital optics lenses and crystal optics filters.

Should I be freaking out right now?

I think there was a thread on here a while back where someone tested a crystal optics wide angle lens and telephoto lens. I think the conlusion was that the telephoto lens was worthless and teh wide angle lens was mediocre but functional.
I couldn't swear by that though. If Sakar/Digital Optics/Crystal Optics are the ones always getting whored for dirt cheep prices on Ebay then I'm pretty sure those were the ones.

My recollection is the same as Jon's. I KNOW it was discussed on here, and I've run a search, but cannot find it. O well.
My opinion of most of the filter-type "lenses" is pretty low but I know there are many who have had some success with some of them. I'm certain some cameras match up better with the additional lens than others.
I guess you've got nothing to lose by giving them a try...

Thanks guys.

It's only money.... the camera is good quality, I guess that's #1 ...

They certainly haven't done any damage to the photos. But since I'm not seasoned yet, I'm not sure if thye're living up to their label.

I'm visiting my old man in TX next month, he's a guru, I'm sure he'll set it straight. He'd never heard of them though ...
