I came from the film world and used SLRs for years. Digital cameras came along and I bought my husband a Canon something or another. I tried using it, but I just didn't understand it. Too many weird options and menus and buttons. I just wanted to take a %$#% picture! For my birthday last year he got me a 300D, the first DSLR we could afford. I used my crap lenses for over a year before we were able to upgrade (another birthday present). Also, I shoot for a local paper, most of the time in low light conditions. I needed faster lenses so we got a couple of those.
I would love a 5D but I have no NEED for it. But, with over 25,000 snaps on my 300D, I may have to get a new one soon. For me, its not an urge to upgrade to the newest, fastest, keep-up-with-the-joneses, its more a need to be comfortable and confident with the equipment I have. If I have to upgrade to do it, well then, I have to upgrade... |
