I got a not bad comment from yourbuddyjhawk, for the record. Of course it is on a shot that I do not particularly like, for the record :) |

No, of course not. I was talking about someone being kicked off the island. Membership revocation/termination.

You understood me correctly. (BTW troll would suffice, no need to invent new words:-)
My opinion (and that's what it is) is that once the votes are tallied, filtered by the anti-troll filters, and presented, nothing should change the "average vote received". Placing may be affected by an occasional post-challenge DQ, but nothing should affect the votes received.
KaDi - I'm not sure that it would fly well here. OK, you could take a photo of a turd for the flower challenge, sign up with 100 accounts and give yourself 100 10s. Assuming that you escape the troll filter, you would have gotten that one ribbon, that would have triggered D&L to look at the scoring, and possibly eliminate you from the island.
It's a virtual ribbon. It is worth something ONLY within our community. (possibly large community with a couple of thousand active users, but still a limited audience). If you were to pull something like that, you would have your ribbon but it would be smeared forever.
And I can come up with probably 5 more ways of rigging votes that would not be initially caught here, but why? Changing EXIF dates - but why? It is like cheating while playing solitaire - who did you cheat!?
blah... babbling too much.
Anyway, the current code does not throw out these votes. (I'll put money on it, as you would have to write something to deal with this, and I assume that D&L did not envision that they would have to deal with this post-rollover). It is up to D&L and them only to figure out what they want to do with this case. (I would recommend leaving the code intact.)

Have to spout on this one.
If someone voted 4 or 10 or 100 times and this was discovered, pre or post ribbon, and those votes 'could' be eliminated, then they should.
If you found that a presidential candidate's team had stuffed the ballots in Florida and California, turning the tide of the presidential elections would you be so lax as to say, Oh well, they didn't get caught when it happened so I guess I just have to live with the president I have?
Get outta town. It's wrong, it is vote manipulation and regardless of the end effect, The right thing here would be to eliminate ALL the votes the troll tallied.
