This is a copy of my Biography for you to read:
Hi, please let me introduce myself to you all. My name is Sherryl Johnston, often called "Shez" for short. My user name is sherpet.
I am married to my soul mate and best friend Peter, who is also my carer. We have been married for 34 years, and have two adopted sons. Both are living in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. My eldest son Ryan is now married, while for younger one Blake, is still enjoying life.
We are retired, and live in Caloundra, at the Sunshine Coast of sunny Queensland, a state of Australia.
I love photography, and only after finding this site in November 2005, decided I had to get out my Kodak DX 6490 camera, and start taking digital photos.
This isn't easy for me, as both my husband and I, were born with a disability, known as "dwarfsism", or we refer to it as someone with "short stature". I am only 4 feet in height, or about a metre. I love life, but have many other physical, as well as health issues, to deal with.
Apart from "short-stature", I have bone degenerative desease, similar to arthritis, and nerve damage to my spine. I also suffered a mini stroke at birth, and this is now causing sight, hearing, and nerve damage problems to my spine, on top of everything else. I sometimes have to use a walker to get around.
I do not want sympathy, as I love life, and treat each and every day as the "best day of my life".
DPC has given me back my life. I had nothing to look forward to, until I discovered DPC, and I have enjoyed my time commenting and voting.
If it wasn't for "alfresco" & "sirbazz", I would not be a member. I also wouldn't have any images in my portfolio, if it wasn't for "hywind".
I look forward to learning all I can from your most valued comments and suggestions.....
My Quote for life: Today is the best day of your life, enjoy, and make the most of it..... |

It's nice to have people so generous like you: almost 4000 comments in less than 2 months. And also your comments are kind. We need more people here to learn from each other. I've seen more photographs on your portfolio, I'll comment later.
Your quote for life is the same as mine. In latin they said "Carpe Diem": Enjoy the moment, don't wait to have fun ever a second, life is now and here. Go for it.
Very refreshing have you here. Enjoy DPC, which is a lovely place to stay. And make photos and pasticipate in challenges and don't get upset if the scores are not very high. LOL

You are too kind.....Thanks
ps - re scores; I will be just happy to have entered, and I will take whatever comes my way, low, medium, or high scores, as thats the name of the game. I am here for the friendship, to learn, to improve and most of all to TAKE PHOTOS, as that what DPC means to me.....

Hi Sherryl,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I haven't checked out the forums lately..Welcome to dpc; reading your biography has made me realize how many things I have taken for granted in life; you have such courage and life inside you..size is nothing; it is meaningless--everything is in the mind--look at Stephen Hawking, his life is of the mind...I'm so glad to see you finding happiness in photography! It has been a joy for me too and as you'll see, it really opens your eyes to the world around you..the search for light, composition, subjects--all these things make you appreciate every moment we spend alive...Marion
