Is it just me or does the Olympus C-3030Z fall short of creating quality close up photography?

I have tried and tried and I can not get it to focus correctly and give me clean sharp macros and close-ups. I have used the manual focus and the autofocus but get the same results.

My 5050 sucks in macro set but is great at super macro

You probably have the same problem,

seems to me the auto focus is the only difference between macro and auto modes on the 5050 I can focus at about 20 cm either way but the focus program gives the close object priority in macro you probably need to back up use a ruler to get to the minimum range of your camera and zoom in as much as possible.
