I was playing with my MR-14EX ringlite on the 100mm macro f2.8, I was trying different settings shooting the eye on my son, but when I started playing with the flash settings instead of in camera settings I found the results much more interesting..

I overexposed by 4 stops (set the flash +3 and the camera -1) and this is what I got

minor adjustments in levels/curves desaturated the eyebrow and erases small specks from the background.

with such a powerful blast from the flash the skintones just dissapeared, but the eye is inside the center of the flash and didn't get affected by the blast :)



any comments apreciated.. and will be returned 1 4 1

Is the model now Blind?

i like the photo and the idea. It is weird though, the more you look at it, the less of an "eye" it looks like. It is mesmerizing in color and detailed. The only thing I don't like is the shadow of the flash just below the real white semi-circle.
