FYI
Staples has Peachtree 2006 (and I believe Quicken, as well) for sale with a full rebate right now...and if you convert from another software or upgrade, you can actually MAKE $20 on the deal with yet another rebate!
I picked up Peachtree today thinking I may try and use it for my little photo business. Do any of you use Peachtree or other software? Do you find it useful or is it more of a pain than doing it by hand? I'm a very small business - no studio and not thousands in sales - but I do need to get organized.
Opinions?
Thanks,
Jen

I have used Peachtree in the past. A learning curve like any other. I use Quickbooks Pro for my own business. Been using that for at least 10 years.
Peachtree has a lot of features and produces some great reports. Like any other accounting software, the trick is to get the account settings correct when you create them. I would suggest creating a dummy business and practice before you try it for real. Make sure you can achieve what you want to with it before committing your real data to it.
I don't recall how the manual or help areas were. But I do recall a book similar in title to The Peachtree Bible (may have been it too) that was a great resource. Step by step how to do everything and then some. |

Thanks, Chris. I will have to spend some more time next week looking through this. Good idea about setting up a practice business. Thanks.

I was thinking of Quickbooks pro, but the price stopped me. And then they stopped supporting an older version (2003?) - very discouraging to hear that.
Free is tempting. Peachtree has been aroud a long time.

I have been using peachtree for over 10 years. Peachtree is the standard for accounting like Photoshop is to imaging. The version I use is probaly more than you would need for photography. This version is probably perfect for photography. And its FREE ?? wow |
