I just got a intuos3 tablet and have a question.

When working in photoshop, I currently have the brush size as the pressure sensitive feature. However i find it hard to know how 'large' the brush is painting all the time. If i select a brush that is say 1" on my screen, I will have a 1" circle drawn on my screen by photoshop where the brush is going to paint. However if i press very lightly I will get just a little dot. This is all good and fancy, HOWEVER, sometimes I want to know how large a circle I am painting. If i press medium hard... is it 1/2", or am i at 1/4" ..... it is especially hard to tell if I am making a masking layer and the differance is only slight.

So here is the question. Is it possible to have that circle (the one that is drawn on the screen representing my mouse) change size by how hard I press with the pen????

Hmm, I doubt that kind of feature exists, since when you don't have the pen on the tablet the cursor should dissapear completely, right?
Having said that, one COULD hack it to do that, sure...

i am a new intous3 guy as well and found that it is quite difficult to have the pen represent the accurate size brush that I selected. Based on angle and strength of press, the pen creates all sorts of sizes when I select say a 20 pixel brush. i am not happy about, but still like it for details, but for larger strokes, I am sticking with the mouse. Unless someone has ideas..... oh well.

have you tried playing around with how hard you have to press to achieve the max. pressure (in the settings)?

Go to the brush options and select opacity instead of brush size.

If you are using a soft-edged brush or the airbrush tool, it is more intuitive (to me) to have more pressure translate into more/darker paint, not increased brush size. If you are using a hard-edged brush or "pen(cil) tool, you couldn't change nib sizes based on pressure anyway.

I prefer knowing where the edge of the brush is at all times -- I find it avoids a lot of slip-ups.
