im just curious as to how sigur rós are regarded in iceland. i certainly regard them as one of the most amazing bands in the world, their music is so moving, it holds a lot of power.
are they comparable to Björk in terms of national pride? (in my experience, the people from Iceland i have spoken to are extremely fond of her- as am i)
for anyone who has not experienced their music i highly recommend you download ''Viõrar Vel Til Loftárasa'' (for free) from their official (news) site
(the sound at around 8 minutes is what happens when you mix a cello bow with a guitar- truely incredible)
oh well, back to the dreamy state which their music induces :) |

Sigur Rós > Björk
IMHO, of course. Don't like Björk anymore, her earlier albums were better.
Btw, "Viðrar vel til loftárása" = "Nice weather for air raids" Love the piano in that work.
