Um... I know I've been gone for a bit and some excellent techniques have been surfaced in that time (Joey's grunge a prime example)... but, is there a new trend in artistic expression? Completely out of focus submissions or images based on a total lack of holding the camera with at least one hand?

A number of the Free Study (woot just finished voting) and Romance images I have perused so far, seem like either someone was riding a skateboard on gravel or they were focusing on a dust speck 10 inches in front of the main subject!

Don't mean to be offensive here...just spouting. Art and abstract are great things/ I've even been tempted to experiment on that level myself. I'm just amazed at (and saddened by) the quantity of the images that are using the 'just enter anything' technique.

:-(

Maybe the photographer was trying to "study" motion? lol
well anyway, my entry was treated coldly.
It's hanging at a very low 5 at the moment.
may drop to a 4 and beat my worst personal score (that bloddy egg photo!)

Didn't someone post a link to the flickr groups that were all based on taking your shot while throwing your camera up in the air? What was that called (besides crazy)?

I've notice a bunch lately that look like someone snapped a pic with a cell phone at 80 miles an hour during a crash.

Don't understand it, just treat it as I see it and move on.

My 2 cents
