Yea I know it is not necessarily the kind of thing you see on DPC, but I was wondering if anyone had a Canon 200mm f/2.8L USM for sale (preferably mark II). I'd really like to acquire this lens, and before my next photo excursion on February 17th. If anyone can help me out that'd be great.
Thanks,
Lee

That's a pretty sweet lens. Not too many people get one and then sell... |

Eh, you'd be surprised. I have a couple of offers via FM. However most of them are for the mark I and I think that I would prefer the II (unless someone here has other thoughts). The best offer I had on the II was for one with the collar, but the guy hasn't responded in a couple days so I'm not sure...
But yeah it's sweet! |

Always a wise guy in the crowd ;-)
Edit: For Spazmo99, perhaps this would tweak your fancy... it didn't sell, twice, so the seller might be motivated; should work great with an adapter ;-)

I emailed the guy and offered, since he was having no luck selling for $9999 on ebay, that I would gladly take it off his hands for $10. I even offered to pay the shipping. It's a good deal, I think he should go for it. Still, I'll have to lay out some cash for the adapter.

Nah, f4 is too slow. Now if it was a 600mm f1.4, that would be something worth owning.

Have you thought about the 135 + 1.4 converter (particularly if you already have the converter)? I know it's more dosh but it gives you 2 primes (sort of). Obviously if you need 200 then it's the best option but from the discussion I have seen, the 135+1.4 is close to the 200 and if it was only a part time use it might be an acceptable compromise.
I think that is the way I will go at some point (unless I just bang for the 70-200f2.8IS anyway) but right now I don't need the speed (will in a few years), so the 70-200f4 is great in the mean time. |
