There is a lot of talk about scores, meaningfulness of a photograph and rationalization. Here are the facts and the normal process of the mind I have witnessed here:
1. I am very excited for this one. I love it and I know the voters will too.
2. My score doesn't reflect what I feel it deserves. My score is too low.
3. I love my picture
4. Why doesn't everybody else?
5. That's alright, I am just glad some people like it and get it.
6. Photography is art anyway.
7. And since it is art, it is what I convey and my pride in it that matters.
8. I think I will write a post discussing (NOT ARGUING, I swear) about the results.
9. Oh, my next entry is DPC-like and meaningful, and I am sure this is my ribbon chance if ever.
I witness this go on every week by an assortment of people on DPC. And probably in my head more than I admit. So because this psychology is fairly present, I propose we investigate the true nature behind our photographs and this site. And don't give me the standard, "it is a great way to learn". Because I think we would all admit that.
So basicaly, answer this question:
Why do we like our own photographs so much and fail to see what others see in them? What is it about YOUR photographs that appeal to you? Namely, what does your artistic eye see that you wished others could appreciate?
