Geez, I think alot of the pix missed the mark in this challenge compared to some other challenges.

Don't get me wrong, there are some nice romanctic scenes, but when I think of romance, I think of a 'man' and 'woman' first of all because romance is related to love which is an emotion.

There's no secondly.

Emotion is what sets us apart from great artists, and the viewer.

I think that is a pretty narrow view of romance. The challenge description asked to represent romance in a photo, so to me anything that represents romance eg flowers or chocolates etc is fine.

agreeing with the above.

besides, my country decided love can be between a man and a man or a woman and a woman already. :)

I stand corrected. But, if a rose is to represent romance, then it better be a darn convincing pix.

people....give up....kiwiness is taking part in this challenge, and I know his score....he is going to ribbon again.... :-(

Romance is very different to Friendship, Love, Sexuality or Sensuality. I do think some of the rose shots convey Romance effectively because of the strong connotations roses carry, but many others just miss the mark.
02/01/2006 03:20:13 AM · #22
i think romance is much more personal than the societal convention of roses.

Wow, this motives me to go and see the entries! :-) I wonder whether I can find out which one is his. :-)

Never give up, mate. The most important thing is to enjoy photography you do! And you still have plenty of time to reach a higher score. :-)

I have sneaking suspicion you won't be far behind him if not in front :)
