Yeah, it's a day old...I tried sticking it back down by hand, but it just pops right back up after about a half a minute.
It wouldn't bother me, but moisture or dust could get in there -- along with whatever else and do some damage...
I think I *MAY* just return this and get the Sigma 10-20 instead as I wouldn't mind the extra couple of mm's ... I really liked this lens too, but I'm not sure I feel like chancing it with another.

First time I ever heard of or seen that. Sux to be you. Better luck with your next one, be it Sigma or Tokina. |

What glue did you use? I would think that epoxy resin would do the trick unless you've tried that?

Oh well, I ordered the Sigma -- I'm pretty sure B&H will not have a problem refunding my money for the Tokina...I buy a lot of stuff there.

Besides, Bear mentioned how just a couple mm make a big difference that low (10mm on d70 = 15mm) (12mm on d70 = 18mm) -- I will probably like it more...we'll see.

I didn't use any glue (I said I thought about using some glue to fix it) -- I wouldn't feel comfortable putting glue that close to an opening that leads internal, moving parts to be honest...plus, it's a rather big purchase, I don't think that should be necessary.

No it shouldn't be necessary, definately! Sorry, didnt see you'd said that about the glue...
I got a chip in my 50mm macro lens which led to the inside, which was my fault admittedly :P I cut a corner off of one of my brother's old Pokémon cards I found laying around at the time and taped it on over the gap! Nice and hi-tech eh? But it's still there and holding up well, hehe :)

heh...well, I've always gave B&H huge support in online marketing, always willing to refer everyone there because of the great service I've received in the past and so on...I'm confident they'll make good on this deal.

Well, B&H came through, no problems...great service -- I tried to deal with Ritz Camera online one time, and it was such a hassle getting my defective lowepro minitrekker AW replaced.
B&H is the only online place I would deal with.
