I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but it has. I entered the Single Light Source II Challenge a couple months ago and it scored really poorly...a 4.723. My others entries are all 5.6 or higher. I really would love some feedback on why it got such a low score. It really surprised me. CC very welcome...

After looking through your comments I think the first one sums it up the best. I think the comment was made by scales. Nothing really pops out at you.

Just my opinion...hope it helps!

It's just kinda boring...theres no color. Compositionally it is good...but the subject matter is lacking. There seems to be no purpose behind the shot, no meaning...it is just a picture that was taken for the sake of taking a picture.

It lacks personality.

Just my thoughts...

Thank you both. Makes sense. :)

Well, I gave it a 6, so what do I know ;-)
I think that it's a great stock photo, but where you prolly ran afoul of the voters is exactly what's pointed out in previous posts. DPC voters tend to vote high for emotive images, and for colorful images. This misses on both counts. It's technically very good, but misses the DPC voters' hot buttons. I've made this mistake before as well... um, well, OK, I've missed on the technicals too :-P

Thank you. I think that is where I made my mistake. It is the type of stock photo I really like, but maybe not best suited for a DPC challenge :)
