My Off-Centered Subject II entry was 3rd in my last four challenges that the 150k limit has forced a quality setting of below 75. I refuse to change my shooting style or neat image the hell out of it to limit detail, so I guess I'll just keep getting slammed. I could care less about scores, but to see your work marginalized is distressing.

I'm not trying to get the debate going again, cause it's been discussed at length. Sorry, I just had to vent.

I don't think I've ever gone below 80...once I saved at 60 just to see if I could notice a difference, and the only place I noticed anything was in the sky...where the gradation should have been smooth, but was choppy instead...

Are you using a 2:3 format? Normally at like 640x440 or 640x400, I don't have a problem -- I could see if you were using like 640x600 or something, and had A LOT of detail, but for the most part, I don't find it a problem making my images come in under the 150kb point.

It happens to me a lot too, 'cuz I shoot WA landscapes with lots of tiny details. It's a real pain in the keister, I'm regularly in the mid-70's witht hese images. And they are usually normally-proportioned too.
