I will be teaching some classes at the local community center - one single session class of "Which digital camera to buy", and one 4 session class of "Taking better photos".
Last time I did this (I did the first class only), I used the center's multi media projector, but I wasn't happy with it at all, the resolution just wasn't good enough to see what I needed to show.
My husband bought me 6 little laptops from the Boeing disposal store (he loves that place LOL) and is working on getting them set up for me.
What I would like to do is this:
I want to use our proper "big" laptop to run the Powerpoint presentation, or to show selected jpeg's. The laptops are already networked, but we don't know how to get them to act as "dumb monitors", so they will show whatever I send to them from MY laptop, with NO input required by anybody else.

Look for VNC. You would run the VNC server on a machine you control (although maybe not the same as you're presenting from?) and run the VNC client on each of the audience machines. You should disable any input from the clients, obviously.
(There have been a lot of versions of VNC, the original being created at ... Bell Labs? I forget now. It doesn't really matter what version you get, as long as it runs on your machine. You can try either //www.realvnc.com/ or //www.tightvnc.com/ or whatever else you find.) |
