I see many tutorials and explanations of how to use lighting to setup a shot. I have seen stick representations of different lighting setups. Can someone please direct me to a clear explanation of the different types of lights, what temperature they burn at (or however this is rated) and what the best uses of each light type is? It would be very helpful if I could see pictures of the lights as well. I keep running across lightboxes and I can't tell if they have a single tungsten light with some kind of reflector or diffuser or if they are a box of flourescent (or some other kind of light) with a filter/diffuser in front of the light. My main goal is not to find another lesson in "How to Use Lights" but a lesson in "What is Boxlighting,Tungsten Light, etc".

Thanks for your direction.

When I first joined DPC, I went out and bought a bunch of lights and other equipment. After a few challenges, the light I use most often now, even for studio shots, is the sun! I haven't touched my other equipment for several weeks!

That doesn't answer your question, I know, but I thought it was interesting.
