I want to purchase something just like this item on Ebay but for lots of reasons I will not buy from this seller: I can not find another item like it online, a complete set, flash and bracket. I did however find a bracket at B&H Photo, Sunpak Digital Camera Flash Adapter and Bracket. My questions is, what kind of flash do I need for this adapter from B&H. I'd like to buy it from B&H, and since this is not pro type stuff I am looking for the cheapest price, I'd also like a black one to match the bracket. Do I need addtional items to make this combo work? I'm sorry but I've never had a camera with a hotshoe so I do not understand the difference in wireless, flash, & digital flashes. Thanks for any help.

I don't have your brand of camera nor do I have the adapter in question, so I am answering based upon my understanding of both
The Sunpack adapter has a built-in IR receiver that "sees" your pop-up flash when it goes off, and it then triggers a normal flash that you have mounted on it. I haven't used this, but since it is called a "Digital Camera Flash Adapter", I would assume that it has the smarts to identify the pre-flash that a digital camera emits and waits until the real one goes off before firing.
Someone with the FinePix may be able to provide more information.
That being said, you should be able to use any basic camera flash that is sold at B&H. This configuration wouldn't support TTL or other "smart" features, so there would be no since paying for those capabilities if you haven't a way to use them. |

If you want it to be just like the one on ebay this is the same flash, the sunpak bracket is essentially the same as the vivitar one with different branding. If you haven't looked already there are some quite detailed reviews and info on the workings of the bracket here.

o great, so this $20 vivitar flash will work with the sunpak bracket, both from B&H, and I wont need any other accessories to make it work? does it matter that this flash is for film and not for digital?
so the bracket is what triggers the flash to go off when the cameras flash goes off. so you can use just any shoe mounted flash for this bracket? hope Im understanding that right..
