On lunch break here and checking the score and forums, as usual. Just wanted to add a note here about why I love DPC. There have been a lot of big and little bru-ha-has lately about the general tone of the message boards, unfair disqualifications, mean comments, etc. While all of that is true (perceptions are never "false"), I wanted to balance it a bit by pointing out that DPC gives ME a chance to engage in my favorite hobby with a group of other people who have the same interest. Where else can I
- post a photo I've just taken and get some immediate feedback?
- participate in contests alongside other photogs and compare skills?
- ask a question about darn near anything and get some very intelligent answers within minutes?
- get the scoop on gear or leads to buy/sell stuff that will work?
I could go on. In short, I love this place. It's my "feel good" internet location day after day. Admittedly, I don't read the forums as much as many of you, so maybe I just don't see as much of the unsightly underside of DPC. I don't get drawn into the debates or arguments, and I like it that way. I agree that the rules will need to be updated, but I have great faith in the admins and SC to do a good job with that.
Keep it up DPC. It's working for me. |

| This site also lets me see some of the greatest "undiscovered" talent out there and gives me something to shoot for. Some of the stories of where people have come from and where they are headed now are truely inspirational. |

I have to agree. I work from home and I couldn't tell you how many times I "check in" here at DPC just to get away from it all and take a break. I don't get drawn in to the debates either. I am here more to learn than anything else...and learn I have (I think).

| I agree! When I got my Rebel, I wanted to take lots of pictures and improve my knowledge and skills. I love having the challenges, because it gives me ideas and I end up shooting things I would not normally think of. I have also learned a lot about post processing. I like the voting and the interaction (not to mention the update button!). This is definitely my favorite site. |

| I just enjoy being a part of a community that will band together and purchase a camera for someone who's broken theirs. Buy a camera for a kid who's family is barely getting by. Give an old monitor to someone they never met so they can continue to edit shots. Donate all the profits from their prints to Katrina victims. The list goes on and on... |

3am in the morning and your brand new rebel won't turn on.......nowhere in NZ open, no-one to ask. Put out a help plea to dpc and in seconds have someone suggest 'check the lens is securely on'...... it wasn't! This place and the people are the best!
