I think I might buy an iPod Video (60GB) this weekend. It comes with something called a 'Photo Wallet' that can be used for storage of photos. I also noticed that I can get an iPod 'Camera Connector' but I can't find too much details about it other than that it has a USB connector so that files can be transferred from the camera.

Has anyone tried this combo? Will it read and display .RAW files or only .JPG's? My guess is that it wil only display .JPG's. But it would be nice if .RAW files could be transferred & stored if nothing else.

Would be lovely to have an extra 60 Gig of image storage when I'm on the road for a few days. And besides - I could even play music with it or watch a movie...

I have this combo. I have a 4th gen, 60GB iPod, and the camera connector. You can either transfer directly from you camera, or use a card reader. I'm not sure about raw, I shoot mostly in jpeg...

I've been on the road for the last month, and it's worked like a charm for me... Except that I lost the camera connector at my last stop... =[ Just make sure that you have a good charge on your iPod before you start... I've had it die a couple of times on me mid-transfer... that was annoying.

It transfers about 1 jpeg image every 6 seconds.

Hope this helps! T

As far as I know it will only display jpeg but can store raw as well.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like it will be a good purchase!

This sounds slow to me (but I didn't do the maths); particularly when transfering a lot of pictures off a larger card. I know it has other uses but if you were doing this a lot might be worth checking out the transfer speed of other devices.

I received the 5th gen. i-pod as a gift. The manual says you can use the ipod as an additional hard drive, down load files from your camera/cardreader (with the camera connector) and transfer them from ipod to computer at a later time. In order to view the images, they must have gone through the itunes software first.

So, take your pictures, download them to the ipod from the camera, but you won't be able to view them yet. You'll have to transfer them to the computer, then reload them to the ipod through itunes.

Also, since the ipod acts as an extra drive, any files can be held on the ipod, including .raw
