I got this email today:
".... Online Services are being discontinued for Quicken 2003 users.
As of April 25, 2006, in accordance with the Quicken sunset policy, Online Services1 and live technical support no longer will be available for Quicken 2003 users. These services include online bill pay; downloading financial data from your bank, credit union, credit card, brokerage, 401(k), or mutual fund accounts; downloading stock quotes, news headlines, and other financial information into Quicken; uploading portfolio information from Quicken to Quicken.com; and access to the investing features on Quicken.com, including portfolio tracking, any watch lists you have created, One-Click Scorecard™, Stock Evaluator, and Mutual Fund Evaluator...."

I've been using quicken for.. 10 years now, and 2003 is my 4th version. (I upgrade every 3 years on the average I guess.) I am using these online services, and I really do not see any reasons why are they suddenly going to terminate all of them. I guess if I go back and read that EULA I agreed to when I installed it, it would probably state somewhere that this may happen in the future.

My Quicken Premier 2003 works great - it has all the features I need, and even more of the features I don't need, and I really do not feel the need to upgrade. It is ~$60 (with their upgrade discount for existing users) to replace the perfeclty fine working version with another one that will probably require some patches very soon.

Blah. Had to vent out.

I noticed Money 2004 had the same thing (so I didn't install it) - revenue reasons I assume to get more product sold. I still use Money 2002 or 2003 [I ignore the flash scren, so not sure] but not sure how long it will keep going.

actually, i quit using quicken about 4 years ago and just recently got the home and business version. man, it's way better 'cause they simplified a LOT. before i quit i had everything tracked back to 93. kinda depressing sometimes. ;)
