Has anyone had problems using a Sandisk cf card in their Canon cameras? I formatted the card a couple of times now, but it doesn't seem to be able to download the images to my computer, some will come across when I put the card in a card reader but a few just remain as files and not images...do I need the Canon brand cf card? or do I need to download the canon software to load images? I didn't with my olympus cameras; I just opened the card as a drive and checked out the images with no problem.

One of my cars is a Sandisk and I have no problems with it. Maybe the card is defective? I always use the card reader to get my images as it is a lot faster and doesn't use up my camera battery.

It is the sandisk ultra, 1gig; I'll go out tomorrow and pick up another smaller (less expensive} card just to see if the card is the problem...thanks for your input shutterpug, you download images the way I do...I never use the camera, just a card reader...it seems since I purchased this canon, I've had nothing but stress!

I've got the same camera as you and I use several SanDisk CF cards, both Ultra and Extreme. No, you don't need a Canon brand card; and no, you don't need to use Canon software. I use a card reader and just open it as a drive too. I copy and paste the entire DCIM folder into My Pictures. I think your may have a defective card. Can you take it back to the store where you bought it and ask them to check it out? If not you can proably send it back to SanDisk for a replacement. I think all their cards are backed by a lifetime guarantee. Good Luck.

I agree with Coolhar...card must be defective...or your reader is bad.
I have all sandisk cards and no problems.

On suggestion - try formatting the card in the camera, not in the computer. Sometimes cameras are fussy about this...

I have the same camera and the 1 gig card and have never experienced any problems with either. As an aside, I always format the card in the camera, so it could be that the suggestion made by Leok has value.

formatted the card in the camera, reinitialized the sandisk reader and all is well! Thank you for your help everyone..i was getting a little crazy, especially since I had just returned the 20d I purchased a couple of weeks ago because of a sensor problem, received this new 20d and was getting worried that it might be the camera again..
