I just had a crazy idea. First some background into my thinking. I'm a Canon DSLR user with extremely limited resources for equipment/lenses etc. I would love to have some access to some equipment in a field testing colaborative environment. I would also love to meet some of the users in my area.

The current database has fields for equipment (camera, lenses) but is not very searchable as far as where the users live. There is a field for location in our profile, but I have put 'Lansing, MI USA' and others that live in my area put Michigan and some put MI and some don't fill it in at all. I would love to see a field for City, one for State/Province etc., one for zip/postal code etc., and one for Country. It would still be optional to fill in for those that wish their privacy. I would also love to be able to do more intensive searches. For example: All users in Michigan that have the 100mm F2.8 Macro lens. This way we could contact users and see if it would be possible to get together and play...

Any feedback? Is it something that could be done with a reasonable amount of coding? Is there even any interest? Could this cause privacy/security issues?
