You're only getting a 12 month warranty. Most reputable manufacturers give 3 years. I never heard of this company, who are they? |

Never heard of them, but I don't know most lcd makers. I just liked the price and the 1000:1 contrast. |

Its a PC monitor and most PCs dont last the 12 months either so.... hehehe joking aside, It looks like a decent monitor but really hard to tell quality from a picture but I believe that technology has come a long way and now things are simply more affordable, although the company is a new one they should be ok, do they have the option to buy extra warrenty like a 5 year deal or something?
My PC monitor is the IIyama 19" not so famous maker but it has been brilliant and still is I just dont use my PC anymore.
To be brutally honest I would never buy anything without actually seeing it working, but thats just me.

Just researching. I was hoping to find it locally and check it out. Through tiger direct I can buy a 1 year or 2 year extended warranty.

I'd stay away from it if I were you. $250 for a 19" LCD is a stretch, and the little companies tend to cut corners and ship a lot of faulty products (for example, my shop ordered 4 of the 17" Polyview LCD's from Newegg for about $210 each, and only 2 of those 4 worked properly. The 2 that worked were quite good for the price, but it's a lot of trouble if you get one that's crappy...)
I'd stay with a Samsung, a Dell or a Benq. The Samsung 740N/740B(B has DVI + VGA input) are 17" models with an 8ms response time, and they should do quite well for you.
If you can swing about 400 and some change, the Dell 2005fpw is very well thought of. It's a widescreen 20" model, with 12ms response time.

The Samsung 740 model has TN panel technology which is not very highly regarded for photo editing. Try to get something with PVA or S-IPS technology if you are serious about accurate color. S-IPS is best and is what's used in the Dell 2001 and 2005 models, as well as, in the Apple Cinema Displays. Of course, it will be at least double the price of the DCL for the Dells, and more than triple the price for the Apple. |

That's PVA technology and a better choice, but still falls short compared with the Dells I mentioned above.
Be alert for Dell coupon codes for their home electronics products and you can get significant savings on a really good LCD display. |

Nothing beats an Eizo..
"A BrightRegulator sensor on the front bezel takes a reading of the ambient brightness and then signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly. In a brightly lit room, BrightRegulator increases the screen̢۪s brightness level, whereas in a dimly lit room it will decrease the brightness, thereby saving energy and reducing eye fatigue."

But almost anything will beat the price. :-/
But look at the Tests..

Samsung 940T
How about this one? 1500:1 contrast, analog and dvi for when I upgrade, only 25ms but my current monitor is 45 so a marked improvement.
How is the display type (a -Si TFT /PVA) compared to some of the others mentioned? |

IIyama is a fairly famous monitor brand to graphic designers and people working with video production... at least it used to be (kinda outa the loop these days) |
