A question which might be a little off-topic here :-)
I have heard that batteries are not allowed on-board/hand luggage. So does that mean one can't carry one's camera on board too? Also is one allowed to snap on-board a plane? Are their any restrictions?

Batteries are allowed - otherwise, how would one power all those electronic devices that are allowed at cruising altitude but not during takeoff and landing, including laptops? I think it's just certain types of batteries - like wet cell batteries (which have acid in them). Ordinary consumer batteries (alkaline, L-Ion, NiCad, NiMH) should all be fine.
