I'm not sure how significant this is, but one of the great low-scoring images of DPC history has been selected as the cover photograph for a book of poems by Robert Lavett Smith:

The book will be published by the Alsop Review Press and is titled "Everything Moves with a Disfigured Grace" :-)

Sweet....

Robt.

Congratulations!

That's quite an honor to get your face on the cover.

Congrats Rob. I like that pic too. There is something about many of your pictures that is at once both stark and soft.

How did they find your pic? Where were they looking?

Well, the portrait of your mind will be immortalized somewhere bear.

Frankly, considering you entered that in a Portrait challenge, I'm suprised it got a 4 actually. Shows the merits of the photograph in and of itself that it did not get scored lower....

Actually, it got a 3.4; how much lower can you GO?

They were looking in my portfolio; I am a book designer. This is the image they chose. They were free to look elsewhere (not all books I design have my images on them) but they had access to my portfolio...

Congrats Bear - I think that is super. I love the photo and feel it deserves it's place on the cover of a book. I think it was just too out-of-the-box for DPC. Here a 'self' portrait means your physical person, whether it paints a true picture of your true 'self' or not.

Sorry, right, I'll learn to read before I speak someday, I swear.

Yeah, that was a little harsh... :/

I'm happy for you, Robert.
I still feel it had NO business being in that challenge.
However, that does not change the fact that the photo itself is lovely!!!!!

Nice one Bearmeister! What's the book about? Would look fantastic as a book cover I reckon. Kudos!

Congratulations Bear!

I wasn't a member here at the time of the challenge, if I had, I would have probably scored it 7 or higher. I'll explain why.

To me, you used artistic license to focus more on the ''self'' than the portrait part. And since ''self'' means the total, essential, the qualities of character, an individual's consciousness of his own being, and more.. I think it fit appropriately.

It is a beautiful image and I'll be looking for the book when it comes out. :)

Actually it must be better to be a horny drip than a dripping horn...

Congrats Robert! The pic is awesome wow you took a beating from the comments.

That's awesome, congrats. I like that picture a lot, and I think the number of (negative) comments during the challenge is the best part... you got skills :P
