Can anyone tell me how to select just the sky for adjustments? I need to do tonal adjustments. I have tried a levels layer mask, but there are bare trees in the foreground of the sky. It's nearly impossible to paint out each branch. I hope there is an easier way to do this.

Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

If there are highlights in places other than the sky you can always switch to the magic wand and use alt-click to remove the areas you don't want (just make sure 'contiguous' is checked)

Ok, here's how I do some of my skies :
(Straighten your horizon first)
-switch to quick mask mode (Q)
-select the gradient tool and set it to gradient from black to transparent
-drag the gradient tool from the top of your picture to the horizon, which creates a gradient mask
-switch back to standard mode, you'll see everything but the sky selected.
-invert selection
-hide selection (without deselect)

Now you're ready to adjust your sky using curves, hue/sat, whatever.

I'll let you know during lunch break. Today is the first day of my Photoshop cs2 class.
