I finally got off of my cheapskate butt and purchased a non-kit lens. I've been debating over what to get. There are several I want, but all are rather pricey, so I stayed true to my nature and bought a cheap lens.

My 50mm f1.8 lens came in today and of course today is a day when I forgot to bring my camera with me to work!!! Anyway, I can't wait to get home to try it out. Will post some pics later.

That is all, back to your regular scheduled program! :-)

you are going to love that lens. I have been very pleased with mine, as is everyone else I've heard from who has it. Good choice.

Yeah, I've been following the forums pretty closely and that seems to be the general consensus.... That's why I went with it! Thanks for the input guys!

I think admiting you don't carry the camera everywhere will incur a suspension from DPC :-)

I keep hearing good thing about that lens (only about the images nothing much nice about the plastic feel) and given the price, it's getting tacked onto my next order. Now if I could a) figure out what that next order is and b) find the dosh for the order; things would be good.

BUSTED!!! But I had a Nyquil induced hangover this morning... I did good to remember to take my son to daycare!!! Can I plead temporary insanity?

I just got mine on Tuesday and I have to say I am impressed by it. The shallow DOF is something I'm not used to (my other camera is a Canon S30), so it's nice to be able to take shots with some bokeh.

I may use it as my walkaround lens instead of the kit lens, but time will tell as I've only had my DSLR for a week and am still getting used to it.

Enjoy the lens, Lee!
