nards656...I would never vote on a pic just by viewing the thumbnail. I think my original intention has been twisted and distorted. I usually do vote on pics in the order presented but when I don't have time to get through a complete challenge, I do sometimes skip shots that might not necessarily be technically bad but that just don't appeal to me as a photographer.

What's the difference between voting on entries just by viewing the thumbnail and selecting which entries to vote upon by viewing thumbnails? To me both fall under the term "cherry-picking".

So, you are saying you can decide "which photos 'appeal' to you" based on the thumbnail image ... I'm glad we cleared that up.

Yeah, my photos usually looks prettier when they are thumbnailed. Enlarge it, and it looks pretty soft and noisy. Maybe it's time for a dSLR, I gotta go ask dad for one :p

I've definitely seen a good looking thumb that had issues at large size, but even more often, I've clicked on a thumb that just doesn't grab your attention at all and it opens to reveal an absolute delight!

great detail, great texture, great lighting, great dof, etc. - a lot of things just can't be seen in that tiny little thumb, IMO.
