I'm all for the kayaking. I like it so much, I have five of them. I do a lot of kayaking on many of Florida's rivers and the Everglades. |

I may be interested in doing this.....it mainly depends on whether Troy's parents can watch Sawyer or not. I'll bring it up to him and maybe we can plan for it and talk to his parents and see if they have any plans. The weather shouldn't be too hot then should it?
I'm definitely putting this thread on 'watch'! :)
PS: I think the place that Gracious mentioned sounds awesome!! Some hiking trails would be very cool!

Hi David... if you are in to astronomy even in slightest way, there is the most fantastic group right by you. Central Florida Astronomical Society. Every other month we have our general meeting there at the SCC Planetarium. If you are interested, let me know and I'll send you the website, plus can tell you more about it. :)

Drop me a line anytime you want to come up this way. We kayak at least once a week. We'd also like to take our kayaks down to the keys soon.
Edit: BTW...really nice work!

David, sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner.
That is wonderful! And even more so that your wife is crazy about it. We all were talking recently about how to get more women involved. Too cool! :D
Tell you what, I'll start a thread down in General Discussion, that way we don't clutter this GTG up with astronomy stuff.
Anyone else that is interested and lives close by, please join in the discussion. Would love to see our membership grow. :)
I'll edit and put link here, just as soon as I start it.

Has a date and time been set for the GTG? I need to make sure I request off before anyone else in my company does. I am really looking forward to meeting you all. Thanks!

Just caught this, and am very interested. I'm in the Orlando area, so it's only a short hop for me to either Coast or in-between on the I-4 corridor ( and, by extension, I-95 on the East Coast or I-75 on the West Coast ).
Rather than attepmpting to get others to meet MY schedule, however, I'll let others work out the dates, then see if my schedule is clear ( I'm involved in a major software installation sometime in April ( date not yet cast in stone )).

The last I remember is everyone was aiming for a date in April?
I don't know if anyone is interested but next weekend (2/24-2/25) I will be in Orlando. One day at Disney Animal Kingdom (2/24) and then one day at Repticon (2/25) - a huge reptile show at the Fairgrounds. If anyone is interested in Repticon I can get the link and add it here or PM it to you. My roomie has started collecting snakes so we have "tagged" all the big reptile shows coming up in Florida for the year to attend.

I'm still set for the April GTG - as soon as a definite date/location is set, I'll make my plans. |

I think everyone was leaning towards the east coast...so I am thinking that the east coast DPC'ers would be best to set location, date and time. I am on the west coast...don't mind driving out there, but am not real sure about the best places to go and photograph.

Ok Floridians (and anyone else who wants to drive down to join us) - we are a month out now...any push towards a specific date? Looks like the Oslo River Conservation area was the location preferred? Only weekend I can't make it is 4/22-4/23 - have a reptile show to attend.

I'm there! Just looking forward to the confirmation of dates so that I can make arrangements for my son and my business. My schedule is pretty much my own, so I'm fine with lettihng those who have time constraints decide the dates. It would just be easier with as much notice as possible.
This will be my first time meeting DPC'ers in person and, like I said, I am looking forward to this. I REALLY need to get out. |

It will be my first time to meet any DPCers as well and I am really looking forward to it. I have never set up a GTG before though so I don't know if I am the best person to try to organize this. I was hoping maybe someone on the east coast could jump in and lend a hand since it seems like that is where our destination will be. Fill us in on any upcoming events or better dates to visit?
Oh...and if there is anyone interested in reptile conventions - I have the dates and locations for 5 more coming up this year.

Sunday the 2nd or Saturday the 8th would work for me. Unfortunately I work the Monday-Friday job so I am only free on weekends.

I work weekdays too - but could take time off with enough notice. As it stands now I'm available on April 1 or 2 and April 7 or 8.

I am not sure where all of our other Floridians have gone to, but I will propose - so that Buzzrock can join us - that we aim for April 8th? I will keep an eye on this thread through the weekend and if I don't see anyone responding I am going to try to PM people to see if we can start getting this GTG put together - LOL. I don't know if I am the best person for it, but I am so thrilled about the idea of getting to meet some of my fellow photogs that I don't want this chance to pass us by.

I am up for the 8th but can arrange a weekday with enough notice to ask off. I'm excited about this too. |
