It's about halfway between Melbourne and Vero Beach. It's a teensy little town on the outskirts of Sebastian. |

And my lucky butt is going to be in NYC freezing instead of being able to stay home and enjoy the beautiful weather. Doesn't that just figure! LOL!

Lord yes.... please bring us warm weather again. The few cool weather clothes that I have... well, frankly, I'm sick of looking at them already! ;)
Hello fellow Floridians!!
I'm a transplanted Miamian, thanks to 'Andrew', now living in central FL. Nice to meet ya! |

That reminds me of an old joke. What's the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee? The Yankee goes home...
It's a Florida thing... Especially in the Winter. |

You can try, but the jury's still out as to whether Jax is really FLA, or just the southern end of GA;)
(I lived there for 16 years.) |

Hahahaaa Never heard it called the southern end of GA! :P When I first moved down here (to FLORIDA) in 2004, my FAVORITE local joke was:
Why does the St. Johns River flow north instead of south?
Because Georgia sucks! lol

I live in Lake Mary Florida - about 20 minutes north of Orlando.
Nice to see fellow Floridians on here! |

You can draw a line just below St. Augustine, over to Ocala, and then make your way up & out to the panhandle. The state above the line and the state below the line only have one thing in common - the flag.
It's a real generalization, but it is true that the state is a real dichotomy. Kinda like Atlanta vs the rest of Georgia - but that's another story. |

I totally agree with you on both points, Sam. I grew up and lived until 18 months ago in Atlanta (and flew there this morning, sat through 6 hour meeting and flew back). It is very different in the city versus rural georgia, same with north, FL vs. south, but in an almost opposite way. BTW, being new to the area, I didn't realize this when I chose Jax and have been most surprised by the uhmmmmmmm redneck quality, but I'm also mildly amused and I still love the area.

Hey fellow Floridians. I'm on the St. Lucie/Indian River border, right where both hurricanes Frances and Jeanne hit the hardest. We're still not completely back to normal and it's been almost a year and a half.
Hey Roxy, are you a member of one of the local photo clubs? Melbourne, or Indian River? I just rejoined IR after a couple of years break. There is a juried photo show now at the Art Museum in Vero Beach. One of my pictures is hanging there.

It is nice to see us Floridians finally chatting together! I am on the Gulf Coast between St. Pete and Clearwater. Been here 6yrs, from Cleveland Ohio originally.
For anyone who is interested who has not already seen it, we also have a thread going about a potential GTG in a few months. (looks like aiming for April right now).
Florida GTG
Feel free to drop in and add your thoughts, ideas, suggestions. Would love to see this turn into a huge GTG....
And if anyone is ever in this neck of the woods - give me a shout - would love to meet up with one and all.
Katie

Hi Grayce,
No, I'm not a member of anything, except DPC. Hadn't really thought about joining a club. I might do that once I develop some skills, and get some equipment.
Congratulations on your work in the show! Next time I drive through Vero, I'll stop in and check it out. Looking forward to the GTG. The conservation area looks really cool! |
