Don't some manufacturers make cartridges with new print heads with each cartridge to eliminate clogging? Or are all of these non-photo printers (I'm guessing because replacing the head everytime would result in cheap heads mainly). I keep thinking I read somewhere that Canon heads are almost as expensive as the printer itself and they'll inevitably clog, same with Epsons right?

I have 2 printers, one from Epson and one from HP, the Epson has built in heads, but the HP has it's heads on the ink cartridge.

the price of new cartridges for the HP is about 20% of the price of the printer, but for the Epson it's only 5%

and if the heads in the HP clogs you have to buy new cartridge, but the epson can clean it's heads.

so buy a printer with built in head and at least 5 ink cartridgers, I prefer printers with 7 cartridges lie the Epson 2100/2200

HP printers used to all have built on heads. Some very recent models have changed this. Using tank wells.

My Canon i70, has seperate ink tanks from the head. But the head can be easily replaced as well. (This is the smartest solution I've seen to date.)
