I'm not sure thinking like others is the point, being able to commmunicate via a photograph takes a very different person indeed. |

Wow, I would think after almost 200 challenges, you'd be immune or at least roll your eyes at others' stupidity. You're a great photographer! Some people DO make the most ridiculous comments and they come off sounding ignorant. I had a somewhat rude comment on (I think) one of my first challenges and was immediately hurt, but when I looked later at everyone else with the same type of entry as mine - that person made the exact same comments. I've gotten way over it, and the person has actually made some nice comments since then.
Some DPCers show great finesse when offering constructive criticism and it is those people whose words I respect and learn from. Graphicfunk is one of those who really puts a lot of thought into his comments. Jutilda is another who always has something positive to say first even if she doesn't like something in a photograph. I love it when those two comment.

And not everyone will understand. There are too many differences.
But as long as you can say what you want to who you want, then you have the talent.

It seems some are much thinner skinned than others. To me, if I get a rude comment, even offensive, so what? I still live my great life and take photos I like. It seems like you can't let things like this get to you, have to just let it slide away. If it truly offends, report to the proper people and still let it slide.
For challenges, some people really may not like your shot, not much you can do about that. There is a huge difference between taking a great photo (such as the Ansel reference earlier) and taking a photo that is a great example of what a challenge calls for.
Example - in the Mother challenge, remember the one w/ the lady in the white mask with the rose? I do, it still haunts me. Aside from the challenge, I might have found it a great shot, but when I went to vote in the challenge, it outright freaked me out, which to me did not say "mother". Had I seen it separately from that challenge, I might have had good things to say about it. |

Like I said before
I was having a senior moment and I do have feelings I guess I shouldnt put images up that mean a lot to ME
I guess the commentor was right It has scored way low and other people feel the same mot all but most
So it's all the voters that are out of sync with my logic
Not me - Im O K LOL!
I am over it and I guess I should have breathed and breathed harder before I jumped the gun!

I can't beleive people get legitimately upset over other's opinions at this site....i mean, it's a virtual world, and if someone tells you they hate your image, in whatever way they word it, at least you know how someone thinks of your image. some feedback is better than no feedback I usually think, even if it is negative feedback.
That doesn't mean that your work sucks, it means some people think so for whatever reason.
If you don't take pictures entirely for yourself and your own joy, and if you submit them to a public viewing forum, expect the public to view it, and tell you what they think. |

If you read the thread properly.
It was not that I was angry that the voter did not like my image I can take that
I was angry that it was stated that,' it's completely insolent towards the demand of the challenge'
That is not true. I had my way of the take of the challenge
