Do not take lightly these words I wrote! Really! When I was "new" here I saw a photo of an old rusty car in a field...nothing had color except the car...basic editing, so I couldn't figure out how this was done. Today? I could run circles around that image! But back then? I recommended for DQ and voted it a 3--pixies ate my hard-drive cracked the knuckle of my photo-taking finger. =) |

I reckon as good as the BEST OF 2005 challenge was, the SIGNS challenge was bad! There were so many poor pictures, many looked like they were taken from cell phones! I think my average score given just plumetted...there were only a couple of stand out photos. Is that how anyone else has found it, or am I the only one??? |

| I saw MANY good photos. I saw MANY different views of "signs" and I thought they were creative and refreshing. I did see some ok photos, but very few BAD ones. |

| Many looked lazy and...'oh, there's a sign, quick let's jump out of the car and grab the shot' There were many creative ones and yes, many good one, but this wasn't a high quality collection...maybe Best of 2005 spoilt me |

ugh...went to bed with 5 votes and a 6.4 and woke up with that. Looks like there are probably a lot of literalists voting on this and if you don't have some pic with a freaking road sign they are going to score you low. |

| well...mine went down to 4.9 but has since climbed back up to 5.3. I think I need to just stop looking until it levels off. |

dustinwilson, don't feel bad...mine just now broke a 5.0, as well. I predict things will get better.
I like your headstones...the title would have made it clear enough for anybody being too literal. Is that the famous Sheridan?
Mine is probably not a "typical" entry either, but I like it. :) |

I really think you may be right. tshanhon These last two Challenges have seen a very low start for me, with a continued upswing. Practically all comments favorable. If mine didn't have to recover from the original hit, I think they may have done better. Is there something going on with the first night voters? Should we wait until people get over being ticked about their last Challenge scores? LOL |

PERSONALLY I HAVE YET TO SEEN SO LOW A START OFF AVERAGE FOR MY SHOTS ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.
I 'STRONGLY STRONGLY' SUSPECT SOME OF THE EARLY VOTERS...EVEN ALL TIL MIDWAY, ARE EITHER PUN-STERS OR PLAIN SABOTEURS.
I JUST WANT PUBLIC OPINION HERE IF ANYONE FEELS THE SAME WAY TOO.

First, if you want anyone to read your posts, stop using caps. It's very unreadable.
To your question, low starts are nothing unusal. It happens all the time. What's more, troll voters votes are automatically deleted at the end.

| Ouch! Off to a bad start too! Signs like the one I chose don't leave a lot of room for creativity! Also, tough competing with the great pics in Best of 2005. |

Troll voters are generally voters who vote in a very irregular way, i.e. they give 1s ore 10s to all pictures. AFAIK, all votes are compared to some matrix, and those which are completely irrational are automatically filtered out.
The same thing happens by the way if you don't vote on 20% of the submissions. |
