This was two testdrives with model photo session for a magazine. I was the photographer choosen to do the shoots. One custom Harley Davidson and a Jawa 650 Bombardier
This consisted in two sittuations: the Harley had to be shoot in the Harley store for static photos with model. A big problem: light. The store had a big front door that let some light in. I used the natural light and my 2 sb800 mounted on two tripopds (camera ones). I used nikon 50mm f1.8 and sigma 105mm f2.8 (for close ups) and nikon 18-70. I liked most of the shoots from the 50mm with natural light. The moving photos where done in the back of the store in an old railway station.
The other photos of the Jawa with the model where done over a smal river, with severe backlight, and even with fill in flash the sky turned out blown away. If I metered in the sky the apperture was so small that the flash couldn't have the strengh to fill-in. So in some photos I undeexposed a bit to preserve the sky and as I shoot in raw I then exported two different files in RSP, one with nice sky, one with the motorbike exposed and the sky blown out, and then combined in photoshop.
Here's the link to the hole gallery and here's some images from it.
Hope you enjoy it and some comments would be wellcome. Thanks.

Lose the flash. I can see you in reflections in most of the shots. |

Great shots, but could really benefit from some cloning in the background, and the skintones need a little work on both of the outdoor shots with just the girl. Something didn't balance out right with the fill flash. She just looks a little paler than the typical glamour girl motorcycle look. :) |

Well the fill flash didn't work well in some situations. Sometimes I try to meter in the sky and lock the exposure and then compose and focus. But the sky was too bright and the fill flash (sb800)didn't have the strengh to fill in (I was getting around f22 1/200 or so).
That particular shot I underexposed in order to keep the sky. So in RSE I did 2 photos: one with the correct sky and one with more correct girl and moto, and then combine it in PS, but the poor exposutre on the motorbike and girl coudn't be completely recovered withought too much loss.

If the dates work, you should save the best one to enter for the "fantasy" challenge. :) |

Not to sound immature or anything... but is anyone else wishing they were a motorcycle right about now? |

My personal favorite on this group is the couple shot on the RR tracks. This a classic pose in my opinion and could only be improved by moving the focus point from center to the left third. This shot would be improved in my opinion by having the front wheel just past the first track going left to right, with the natural eye draw of the tracks in the background. Overall, good solid shot.

This was the fort time I ever shoot with live models in the bikes. I've done a lot of bike shoots but only with the pilos or the motos sitting still. In the Halery store I was a bit lost knot knowing very well where to place the girl and what tell her to do. And I could see she was waiting for my tips.
But it went ok, I guess. The outside photos whre the easy ones for me.
