Yes, the title is somewhat important, because it tells me a little about the photographer is trying to show with his submission.
Example, if its a photo of a banana and the title says "monkeys" then I can relate, but it the title says "mona lisa" then I'm sure I'll be dumb-strucked :p |

That's such a great example, because plenty of times I've come across pictures & titles that were the equivalent of your Mona Lisa bananas. There's nothing like an inexplicable title to throw me off.

This where half the trouble begins: meaning?
An artist who 'spoonfeeds his or her meaning' is not an artist, in my book. He's his own personal laundry.
