You should be able to get an Elan II and maybe even the II e for ~150 US. Probably less. |

Depending upon your needs and what you want/need to spend, you have a few options...
For new, there is the Rebel T2, which is the higher end of the two current Rebel 35mm models. The step right up from there is the Elan 7n, which I understand is a good camera body and one that I have on order for delivery tomorrow. (It's available from B&H for $299, body only)
If you need a film body, but don't intend on "going to town" with it, so to speak, pick up a T2 body (Not the kit) and a Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 Mark II lense, it should end up being less or right about the same price as getting an Elan 7n body, but you will be VERY happy with the lense...
If you are looking just for something compatible with your lenses, keep in mind that the Kit lense that came with your camera will NOT work with any Canon Film body. The back of the lense goes too deep into the body and will break the mirror of a Canon film body. |

Nope. Still a good choice.
If Canon is a must, the AE-1 would be a solid choice as would A-1.

Not if you have EF lenses, which is, I'm assuming, the whole point of his specifying Canon in the first place.

No, but they wish they did. I've had my two for nearly 20 years now.

If you have Canon EF/USM lenses I would suggest a second hand EOS600/620/650 or RT, I have owned most of these and still use the RT daily andit is made like a brick s**t house, very durable with good seals around switches etc, it is fast at 6 FPS and virtually silent due to the pellicle mirror. Quite rare now but if you see a good one snap it up as you won't be dissapointed. Enjoy! |
