I took a neat picture of the moon today.

that is way too much exposure! on a clear night you can shoot the "sunny day f/16 rule" (1/60th @ f/16 ISO100) and give one stop more exposure - or 1/60sec f/11. So at ISO100 and f/2.8 you would use around 1/1000th sec.

I have had to wait to get a moon shot with my new equipment, and had to go out in themiddle of the (cold freezing windy) night to get this

Even with a tripod the 20mph winds were an issue. Details with pic, but 960mm, ISO 200 1/50 at f6.3, remote release.

This is my other moon shot

my most recent moon shot... not the best, but it was an iteresting effect with the fog that night
