It was in the 50's here and raining/foggy all day. All the snow melted ( we had about 10 to 12 inches left after the warm spells of the past few days) and now it is a veritable blizzard out there. 2" of snow in the last half hour or so. Cannot see the dogs ( I just took them out) when they are right in front of me.
What's up with this? Is it spring or winter? |

Seattle is on day 27 of continuous rain, and has a very high chance of beating the all time record of 33 consecutive rain days.
Our world is grey, and nothing but grey. We have landslides and flooding, and I am growing webbing between my toes.

Dallas is on day 4 million of NO rain, freakishly warm weather, and wild fires. All the trees are starting to bud... guess my hopes for a snow day aren't very realistic this year.
Beetle, wanna switch places for a week or so? |

I hate heat with a passion (even though you probably have dry heat which is better than the muggy stuff), so I"m afraid I must decline.
I'd rather turn into a duck.
But you're welcome to come visit :-) |

Same here Chris. You're just a few hours behind our weather. The morning high today was 56F... At 4am I awoke to this incredible howling wind and heavy rain pelting the windows. By noon the rain changed to sleet and shortly after to snow. We've accumulated a tiny bit, maybe a 1/4". It's currently 22F outside but with the 20-30mph winds it feels like 8F. Brrrrrr!

Ok..this is insane! I just came in from outside when I posted this thread. We left tracks in the snow. The puppy decided she needed to go out again. I just came in from that and there was NO TRACE of our tracks in the snow from just a half hour ago.
I had rhododendrum sprouting new growth earlier in the week; plants in the yard showing new green earlier today I noticed since the snow was gone. Now there is enough snow that I need to wear boots next time the dogs need to go out.

Well it will probably go down to about 28 degrees tonight and it was in the high 70s yesterday. All this up and down is actually normal for winter on the Gulf Coast. After all the nasty extra-normal stuff we had this past summer this winter has been a welcome break.

With all that rain followed by snow, that sounds like a good combination for icey roads. Be careful out there.
Los Angeles had its share of weather too. Today we got .36" of rain and it only got up to a brisk 56 degrees. Brrrrrr! ;-) I'm in the foothills just north of LA, and a few years ago we actually got snow on Valentines Day. |

Here on the Cape, we've had almost no sub-freezing temperatures thus far, and virtually no snow except for one totally unpredicted micro-blizzard last month; the temperature dropped 15 degrees in 10 minutes and the winds popped up from nothing to 75mph virtualluy instantaneously. This "little" blizzard dropped massive trees all over the place and knocked out power for (in my case) 6 hours. This was when I shot my "candle" shot LOL. The one in the toilet. Some areas remained without power for several days. All the snow was gone within 36 hours, and nothing since but some sporadic rainstorms.
Damned poor excuse for a winter, if you ask me :-(

I spent this morning changing the oil in my Jeep, with the garage door up and a T-shirt on. It was 55 degrees out! Insane! Now, there's nearly two inches of snow on the ground and it's still comin' down hard, with tomorrow slated to be COLD.
The world's gone mad. Although I really liked the conditions yesterday and this morning - gotta' move somewhere where that sort of condition is the norm, and not the bizzare exception.

We had rain followed by HEAVY winds. I went out shooting just before the wind started and I'm sore just from walking against the wind. I must be getting old or something.
Edit to add: Some 19,000 without power tonight in Pennsylvania according to the news.

And back to Seattle again, it started snowing here (W'ville) a couple of hours ago, but it wasn't sticking to the ground! Bit unusual after all that rain which is not showing any signs of stopping! |

Here in Northern New Hampshire we had a high of 48 and lots of rain yesterday (which showed me that when I put the lightbar on my van I didn't seal the holes very well.
Today we're slated to get 4-8 inches of snow and a high of about 21.
Weather is just nuts. |

40 to 50 mile an hour winds this morning. 10 inches of snow. Lost power last night at around midnight until just a few minutes ago. It is cold in here. |

We have no snow here in eastern Newfoundland. We had a dusting the other day but since then had lots of rain. Today it is +12ºC which is extremely warm for the middle of January, average temps for this time of the year are usually -2 to -5ºC. But I am loving it, I don't like the snow and cold.

So far I have lost two tennis balls in the snow since the puppy takes one out with her. It is funny to watch her though. She tunnels through the snow like a mole trying to find it. Ever see a bugs bunny cartoon where you see the mound of dirt as he tunnels? This is what it looks like. |

"Help! Help!"
Our hero, Slippy, is preparing to brave the elements in his relentless pursuit of being the good samaritan...
"I'm coming! Just let me strap on my GPS, Camera, flask (liquor of your choice) lace up my booties..."
"Booties? What kind of hero wears 'booties'?"
