On friday 13th was discussing withother photos what the weekend was bringing, I mentioned I was shooting a wedding {on film}. discussing this one of my friends said " have you ever forgotten to load a film?.
I said " Do you think I'm stupid, In 20yrs of this no way.
Well that remark bit me in the bum. I forgot to load the very last roll, it was only the empty clic and no film counter that alerted me after 10 or so shots,
I reloaded the film retook the hots , but boy is my face red. |

I did that once with a 4 x 5 view camera. I didn't notice there was no film in the holders till I got back to my dark room. Full day wasted not to mention what would have been nice shots. |

What's even worse is loading the film in emulsion side down so that you're exposing the base rather than the emulsion, which only gets fogged. Usually it's a mistake only made once, usually while learning to use the notch, but it still sucks.

Yep, I've done that. A few years ago, I shot off a whole roll (I thought) of photos of my cousin's daughters to make a calendar for her. I took them down the road and took some very good shots, but I didn't notice that the film wasn't rolling (it had been a while since I had used that camera...) |

Variation on the problem is when the film is loaded, but not advancing onto the takeup spool. I had that problem once with my old MF SLR (back before I got an AF camera). Unfortunately "once" was at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, when a friend had managed to get semifinals athletics seats perfectly in line with the 100m start line, about a dozen rows from the front. You can imagine how I felt when I went to pick up the prints and the lab guy said the film was unexposed.

Exactly same thing happened with me on my own wedding, but this time i was misinformed, my bro told me that he loaded the film in the camera and i kept shooting from it. Till it went to 38 photos in roll of 36. Its life.
