Well my problem is that I shot some photos in Raw on my 20D and I can view them fine on the camera´s LCD but when I connect the camera to a PC (With the EOS driver Installed, Rawshooter installed, and Microsoft raw image thumbnailer installed but not any other software from Canon)
I cant see any cr2 files on the camera just nothing shows. Do I have to have more canon software installed ?? or can I install something else or is it some other problem ( Jpeg files on the camer show up and can be uploaded to the pc but no RAW files)

That's normal behavior. I *think* that using the Canon software will allow you to offload the RAW files, but the better solution is to use a card reader, it is soooo much faster, assuming you use a USB 2.0 or better a FireWire reader.

I had this same problem just the other day . . . so I'm going to bump this to the top in hopes that someone will help.

Are you saying you can't see the files even with EOS Viewer Utility?
XP knows jpeg format, but not CR2, therefore Windows tools are not much help for you to extract raw from camera. You have to use EOS Viewer which comes with the camera or you can download it from Canon's support site.

No didnt install EOS viewer only EOS camera driver , this is not my primary photopc. I´ll see if it works if I install the viewer.

But shouldn't the Microsoft Raw Image Viewer still be able to show the RAW images? I've never had a problem with it, though I am using a card reader, not direct from camera.

I've got the Canon Utility Veiwer installed, and I couldn't see the RAW files on my camera. Funny thing is, I have used the capture software and had my camera dump photos right to my computer while I was taking pictures. You have to use the Utility Viewer for that, and it worked just fine.

Just for clarity, this is really not a Windows issue; if the camera acted as a removable storage device, windows could see any file type. Apparently, though, it does not really act that way, and so the EOS viewer software is necessary. The transfers from Cam to PC over this link are really slow, however, so for regular use it's highly rec0ommended to use a card reader instead. Even a USB 2.0 card reader will be several times as fast as using the USB link directly to the camera.

That I can't help you with. Never touched it.

Card readers don't have that problem because I usually use on of those too. I had some concerns about repeatedly plugging my card into the camera, then the computer, then the camera . . . I started to worry about it more this year because I started a Photo-A-Day project. I thought maybe I could save some wear and tear on the card if I could download from my camera.

Yeh, in the situation where you are only downloading a few shots, but are downloading OFTEN, then I too would start to get concerned for the number insertions eventually causing wear on the card and possibly the camera connector. Looks like EOS Viewer is the only real solution for that.
