I think this was an adoreable photo and I gave it an 8 as it fit the city life challenge so well :) I see the elderly and some not so elderly walkign the streets dressed similar to this :)

This is not a score whining. I couldn't care less what my score at dpc would be. I know what are this photo's faults and highlights. With all do respect, very few of the current dpc voters can actually tell me better.

I am also not going to rant about those who couldn't open their mind enough to see this photo's connection to the city life. I've been through this before.

I do want to introduce you to this amazing person.
He's over 90 as far as I know. His wife, if she is still alive, is living in some sort of medical institution. But he's still living in his house.
Street playing is his way of getting out of the house, see people and get some air.
I really don't know, but I truely hope it's not the money that he needs.
On one hand, it's sad to see him looking like this. Some sort of sad clown. But on the other hand, I wish I will have his will and guts when I'm his age.

Many shoot him on their way, trying to steal a joke and enjoy it among themselves.
I couldn't.
I have asked and specifically received his premission to get this shot.
And although I have this ugly light reflection on the left, I love this photo. And I am going to leave it as is, with no edits.

For me, this is the sweet-sour taste of the city. Of every city.

I guess I might be in the minority, but I do think you could find a person like this outside of a city, and there is no context in your shot to give it a city feel.

Glad we have yet another subject matter expert in our ranks.

That was pretty tacky Slip - no - make that uncalled for.

It may not have been the strongest composition for the challenge,
but doubt any of us are qualified to say it didn't meet it.

It's what my comment during the challenge was. You're tacky for calling me tacky for expressing MY opinion. There's no context, it's a portrait, that's MY opinion. Who voted YOU the subject matter expert?
:-P

I think if you post your pic, and tell us why for you, it is great, you are leaving yourself open to, or perhaps inviting others opinions.
I think Slippy saying, simply DNMC, was opinion. It was not an attack, it was not personal...simply for him, it DNMC
Can we not share differnt opinions anymore? I hate the name calling and silliness of late here. But sheesh as an artistic community you must understand that not everyone will love what you love...That is what makes it all keep on keepin on, folks!
If I posted a shot in the forums, I would do so expecting! some folks to not like it, some folks to love it, others to be rude, some to be polite....It is what goes on here, and mostly in the world, no??

I am sorry for my post. I have removed it.

I did not ask any of you whether my photo meet or did not meet the challenge.
I did not ask for your opinion about the voting.
I merely thought I should introduce you to an amazing person that deserved more then Strikeslip's DNMC.
Aparently, all you are left with is DNMC.

This is why I replied to Strikeslip with DD.
Drop Dead.

I voted it an 7 I thought it meet the challenge just fine, seen street performers all the time in the city. I would have liked a less tight crop but thats just me:)

I revel in my closed-mindedness and my freedom to express it with my vote.

I gave it a 7 and it never crossed my mind that it didn't meet the challenge. If I can find it I'll post one I took in New Orleans last March while visiting there. The guy was dressed so much the same but it was a very old black man.

I didn't vote on it, but I think it meets the challenge very well. There are so many aspects of city life, there's almost nothing that wouldn't be encountered while in a city. So I think the 'DNMC' comments should be reserved for any shots of a dumpster taken in 2 seconds or something like that.

My entry got at least a few 'DNMC' or similar comments, even though I can't see how anyone would know anything about city life and not be aware of BMX..
