I mean I know it's not perfect. But I just went through all the Shapes II results and I really don't think mine needed to be THAT low. So tell me what I could do to make it better please.

I didn't vote on this challenge, but I am more than glad to share my opinion on why your shot received the score it did.

- The focus is off. The image has an overall fuzzy feeling to it.
- The are little squiggles at the bottom and on the right of the hole in the material used as foreground. It looks like clumps of dust or compression artifacts.
- There are compression artifacts in many parts of the image.
- The quality of light is poor. There does not seem to be enough of it, white balance seems to be off and image lacks contrast.
- The strong centered composition doesn't really add much interest to the shot. A centered composition needs very strong elements to work. A composition resembling more the rule of thirds would have created more interest.
- There is a little pale blob on the dark foreground in the upper left corner of the image.

That's about it. Hope it doesn't sound too harsh. If I had voted on this image, I would have given it a 3, maybe a 4, but no more.

Hope this helps. Don't get discouraged by your result. We are all here to learn and to benefit from one another.

I think Beagleboy has said much of what I see in your image.

It needs to be pin sharp and bright, but as it stands your image lacks in both these elements. Color always makes viewers sit up a little, but again your image lacks punch.

I didn't vote, but would have offered a 4

Thank you. I appreciate the critique.

The fuzz at the bottom is and the detail of the wood. This was actually a closeup of a wooden christmas tree.

Anyhow, thank you for the input I greatly appreciate it.
